JEDDAH – Al-Hilal deepened the wounds of Al-Ittifaq after defeating its host 2-0 in the ninth round of the Saudi Zain Professional League at Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Stadium Saturday.
The league leader Al-Hilal added three new points to its tally to reach 25 points while Al-Ittifaq remains in the bottom of the standing with two points, with two matches in hand.
From a corner kick in the 21st minute, Al-Qahtani of Hilal headed into the goal. Six minutes after the break, Thiago Neves’s shot was blocked by the goalkeeper but Wilhelmsson pounced on the rebound to score.
In another match, Al-Nasr rallied from 0-3 to draw with host Al-Ahli 3-3- at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium.
Hussain Al-Raheb put Al-Ahli in the lead in the third minute before Javier Tulido increased the margin in the 28th. A minute before the break, Saheb Al-Abdullah headed in to make it 3-0.
In the second half, the Argentinean midfielder Victor Alberto Figueroa scored the first goal for Al-Nasr three minutes after the break. In the 76th minute, Rayyan Bilal scored the second. Two minutes later, Figueroa equalized for Al-Nasr.
With one match in hand, Al-Ahli is fifth with 11 points followed by Al-Nasr (7), with three matches in hand.
At Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium, Al-Wehdah and Al-Fateh shared the points after a goalless match. Al-Wehdah is seventh with seven points and two matches in hand. On the other hand, Al-Fateh stands fourth (12).
