JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia and Iraq continued their run to qualify for the finals of the AFC U-19 Championship 2010 by winning over Kuwait and Afghanistan at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Erbil, Iraq, Tuesday.
With nine points each, Saudi Arabia and Iraq top their group but host keeps an edge on 3-goal difference.
Saudi Arabia succeeded to win three important points from a determined Kuwait.
Mohammed Mejreshi scored the winner for the Saudi team in the 36th minute. Both teams put up a good show, but Mejreshi made the difference.
During the last minute of the match, the Kuwaiti defender Ahmed Al-Dhufairy was sent off.
In other matches, Iraq defeated Afghanistan 3-0 at the same stadium. Meanwhile, Oman defeated India 4-3. The Indian side succeeded to end the first half leading 3-1, but failed to maintain the tempo.
Now India and Afghanistan remain last with no points. Kuwait and Oman are third and fourth respectively with four points each.
